Fostering the establishment of the Brazilian Panel for the Future of the Ocean - Sea Panel
Location: Brasilia, Distrito Federal, Brazil.
Partner: The Brazilian office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Date: August 2015.
The project comprised the first phase of mobilization and setting up a collaborative multi-sector platform for addressing marine and coastal issues. IUCN promoted an inaugural workshop with the participation of diverse key actors, third sector organizations, government and academics to debate the initial composition. This led to an initiative that enables the conjugation of efforts and capabilities and the sharing of information to address emerging problems and opportunities in the marine-coastal agenda in Brazil. This initiative was then delineated in the format of a collaborative platform called Painel Brasileiro para o Futuro do Oceano – PainelMar (Brazilian Panel for the Future of the Ocean - Sea Panel).
