LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR PUBLIC USE IN COASTAL AND MARINE PROTECTED AREAS: DIAGNOSIS AND PERSPECTIVES
This report is the result of the diagnosis of local arrangements associated with public use in coastal and marine conservation units in Brazil and is the first product of this nature developed by the institute. The diagnosis links the approaches of two of our programs: Protected Marine Areas, which seeks to strengthen management and increase the representativeness of these spaces in the country, emphasizing the positive relationship of these units with surrounding communities, with productive activities appropriate to the context of each category and with the conservation of marine biodiversity; and Business Associated with Conservation, which aims to support initiatives with potential to generate income and well-being to local communities, reconciling socio-economic activities with the maintenance of environmental quality.
NAVIGATING THE PATH OF PUBLIC USE
